Judging the top cruise destinations can be tricky. Travel experts sometimes choose to rank top choices in terms of personal preference, instead of most-visited locales. The most popular destinations don’t take too much research to figure out. They’re generally lowest in price – a benefit of travel volume – and widely offered by many companies. You’ll find these destinations are low in price (because of the high travel volume) and are offered by most companies in the business.

It’s probably no surprise that the hands-down winner in the competition is the Caribbean. These small islands situated in the Atlantic are the vacation of choice for those seeking sun, fun, and sand galore. Either concentrate longer time on a few islands, or take a lengthier trip that explores the whole region.

Another top destination is the gorgeous expanse of Alaska. This cruise is very popular, what with the exciting activities available to those who embark. Perhaps dog sledding is up your alley, or skiing, helicopter rides, and glacier excursions.

Hawaiian cruises are another popular option for aspiring cruisers. Another tropical locale, it offers all the sun and sand of the Caribbean, with the added benefit of some of the most striking natural scenery in the world. Calling all surfers: Hawaii is you ideal vacation destination! Shoppers will find Hawaii a shopping mecca! For hikers, you can always take a jaunt up to one of Hawaii’s active volcanoes.

Warm weather destinations are tops with most cruisers, if the numbers of cruisers to The Bahamas is any indication. Beautiful beaches, parasailing, and outdoor activities aplenty.

Finally, Mexico is a popular and affordable option for cruisers. Mexico has many various coastal destinations for cruisers, including Cabo San Lucas and Acapulco. Depending on how old you are and the types of activities that interest you, some of the cities will be more appealing to you than will be others. Do some Internet research or consult a travel agent to determine which Mexican itinerary would suit you the best.

Who hasn’t dreamed of vacationing on a yacht? Spending lazy days cruising between islands, swimming in warm, turquoise water, and having your every need catered to. It doesn’t have to be just a dream – there are ways to make it a quite affordable reality.

Here are 8 ways that can help you save a bit of money and still have that perfect vacation:

1. Travel with a group of friends/family. It’s always less expensive to share the costs with a group. As an example, I found a crewed sailing yacht in Italy for $9,800/week that sleeps 12 – that breaks down to $816/person. Or how about a skippered boat in the British Virgin Islands for $4,895 that sleeps 6-8? That comes out to $611 – $815/person.

2. Discounts and rebates. Thanks to the current economic situation, many charter companies and boat owners have lowered their rates, and new discounts are being offered all the time. To stay on top of the latest deals, sign up for newsletters and email alerts from yachting magazines, charter companies and yachting websites.

3. Negotiate the price. Again, thanks to the less than stellar economic climate, prices are not set in stone, even if you charter through a company. Also ask about the hidden or extra costs – can they be included in the listing price?

4. Getting to your destination. If you’re chartering through a company, ask them if they offer airfare discounts. Many of the larger charter companies can negotiate lower prices on airlines flying to their charter base than what you are able to find online.

5. Look for last minute deals. Again, signing up for newsletters and setting up Google alerts are great ways to find out about them. There are even entire websites devoted to last minute yacht charters, so do a bit of browsing as well.

6. Go slightly off-season when the weather is still nice but the crowds are lighter and there are more deals available. Late September/early October in the Mediterranean and April-June in the Caribbean are good times to go.

7. Avoid spending the first night in a hotel – instead ask for an “evening boarding” or “early boarding”, which allows to you spend the night before your charter start date on the yacht. There is sometimes a fee associated with this, but it’s usually less than a hotel room, and you only have to unpack once.

8. If you own a boat yourself, check out “boat swapping”. This fairly new way of vacationing is like a home exchange but with boats – a great affordable way to see faraway oceans while not spending a fortune. If you don’t own a boat but are an experienced sailor (you’ll need documents to prove it), see if you can swap your home for someone’s boat.

Chartering a private yacht for a vacation may sound like something only the rich and famous can do, but the truth is that it can be quite affordable, in fact even less expensive than staying in a hotel for a week.

Below are 8 money-saving tips to help make your dream vacation happen:

1. Share the expenses. Traveling with a group is always less expensive. If you can get a group of 8-10 friends together, you can end up paying as little as $800/person for a week on a really nice yacht in the Mediterranean or Caribbean.

2. Take advantage of the weak economy. Many boat owners and charter companies are faced with fewer bookings and are consequently cutting rates and running specials. One way to stay up to date with the latest offerings is to sign up for newsletters from charter companies, magazines and other publications from the part of the world you are interested in.

3. Negotiate the price. Again, thanks to the less than stellar economic climate, prices are not set in stone, even if you charter through a company. Also ask about the hidden or extra costs – can they be included in the listing price?

4. Save on airfare. Many charter companies have special deals with airlines flying to their charter base – make sure to ask before booking anything.

5. Look for last minute deals. Again, signing up for newsletters and setting up Google alerts are great ways to find out about them. There are even entire websites devoted to last minute yacht charters, so do a bit of browsing as well.

6. Travel during shoulder season (in between high and off season). This is the best time to travel: the weather will still be nice, but the crowds are gone, and prices on everything will have gone down. If you’re going to the Mediterranean, consider traveling in September or early October. For the Caribbean, late April to mid-June is the best time.

7. Sleep on board the night before your start date. Instead of spending the first night in a hotel on or close to the charter base, ask if “early boarding” or “evening boarding” is available. Sometimes you will have to pay a fee for this, but it’s less than a hotel, and it saves you the hassle of having to move your stuff from the hotel to the yacht.

8. Boat swapping. If you’re a boat owner, consider swapping boats with someone else. It works just like a home exchange, but with boats, and is a great way to be able to sail exotic waters without spending a fortune. If you are an accomplished boater but don’t own a boat, you can always ask if someone is interested in exchanging their boat for your home for a week.

For thousands of years, we’ve learned to forge our way across the waters as a means of travel. Since the 21st century began, so too has Old Town kayaks, and they’ve been fashioning kayaks since 1940. Taking the original inspiration from Native Americans’ canoes, Old Towne began making kayaks with sealskin design, along with wood and canvas materials.

Starting around the 1950′s, Old Town began manufacturing toward the use of lightweight fiberglass. Their kayaks are now produced with durable PolyLink3 and SuperLink3–a trend towards new, contemporary use of materials in the new century. With so many different styles to choose from, how does one determine the best kayak to suit their needs?

Kayaks are quite different from the lowly canoe. They permit you to easily and quickly maneuver across the water using double-bladed paddles. Since you travel faster and closer to the water than other water craft, you typically have greater stability in a kayak. If you’re considering the purchase of a kayak, be sure to understand how you’re planning to use it. Such factors as the kayak’s materials, weight, capacity cockpit and overall size will be very important as you weigh in the factors for your decision.

If you’re interested only in recreational kayaks, you will be delighted to know that so many styles, designs and choices exist. These models are very user-friendly and are ready to shove off into the water at a moment’s notice. In addition, day touring kayak models have great tracking capabilities and they’re stable and highly-efficient to boot. Some kayaks even provide open cockpits that allow kayakers to quickly and easily enter and exit their kayaks. Both sportsmen and families alike will find much enjoyment in their use of day touring kayak models.

If there are two of you preparing for to kayak, you may wish to consider a tandem model. Tandem kayaks are great for couples, and are very suitable for all kinds of bodies of water. Fishing kayaks are lightweight, stable, and have features that enhance the experience of fishing and kayaking simultaneously. Both models have the same type of construction, such as shock cord deck riggings, cockpits, deck hatches and handles for carrying.

Old Town kayaks, built in Maine, have tried to manufacture kayaks for everyones taste. The shorter the kayak, the more maneuverable they are and lighter. Longer kayaks are great for cruising and traveling in the open waters. They are also better for day trips and overnighters. Wide boats are good for photographers and fishermen and narrow boats go farther. The bottom layer is also important in your purchase of Old Town kayaks for sale.

Flat bottom kayaks will make your journey more comfortable through calm waters. Shallow arch bottoms work best in choppy waters. When you need to improve tracking over water, the V-bottom kayaks may be the ideal choice for you. In addition, kayaks vary with the sides that are built. When the sides of a kayak is curved inward, this is called a tumblehome design, which is typically that of a narrow kayak. Flared sides allow the kayak to function best while sitting deeper in the water. Old Town kayaks are produced from a variety of materials including 100% recycled plastic, polyethylene and a variable layer boat.

Among the models made by Old Town, Maine include the Digio 106 Angler. Lying low in the water, this kayaks allows fishermen to navigate silently through the water. This model includes rod holders. Another angler model is known as the Vapor 12xt with day well, and even includes storage for your GPS and iPods. You can travel just about anywhere in this kayak! The Adventure and Cayuga series are great kayak models for those looking for day tours. These models are set up with features that make them terrific choices for overnight excursions.

Already round for decades, Old Town kayaks plan on building quality boats well into the new century. The company prides itself on their understanding of craftsmanship exhibited so well by the native American people. Old Town will certainly succeed in competing against the competition with high-quality and easily affordable kayaks providing fun for young and old.

Forging our ways across the waters has been a method of travel for thousands of years. Old Town Kayaks has been around since the twenty-first century, fashioning kayaks since 1940. Originally inspired by the canoe of the Native Americans, Old Towne began manufacturing kayaks with sealskin design, as well as wood and canvas.

Beginning in the 1950s, the manufacturing moved onward to the use of lightweight fiberglass. Now, in the new century the kayaks are produced with durable PolyLink3 and SuperLink3. With all these different styles, how do you determine what is best for you?

Kayaks are different than canoes, as they allow you to easily maneuver yourself in the water with double bladed paddles. You can travel faster and closer to the water for better stability. When you are thinking of your purchase, have in mind what you are to use the kayak for. The size, weight, cockpit, capacity and materials will all be important to your final decision as well.

Those of you interested in solely recreational uses, there are models ready for you to purchase that are user friendly and ready to toss into the water. Day touring kayaks are stable, have good tracking and are highly efficient. Open cockpits have been built for easy entry and exit. Sportsmen and families would enjoy the day tour models.

You may want to consider getting a tandem kayak if there are two of you ready to traverse the waters. These types of kayaks are terrific for all kinds of bodies of water. Lightweight and stable fishing kayaks come with features that work well for those who enjoy fishing and kayaking together. These kayak models have the same anatomy: Shock cord deck riggings, cockpits, deck hatches, and even carrying handles.

Constructed in Maine, Old Town kayaks are manufactured by a company that fully cares about producing kayaks that fit everyone’s taste and style. While shorter kayaks tend to be lighter and have greater maneuverability, longer kayaks provide a pleasurable experience in cruising and travel in open water. Longer kayaks are also preferred over shorter kayaks for overnighters and day trips. Wider boats are ideal for photographers and fishermen becuase they provide a more stable experience. Narrow boats are preferable for those planning on farther excursions. When considering the purchase of Old Town kayaks for sale, also be sure to check out the bottom layer of the boat, which is also an important component to consider.

Flat bottom kayaks will make your journey more comfortable through calm waters. Shallow arch bottoms work best in choppy waters. When you need to improve tracking over water, the V-bottom kayaks may be the ideal choice for you. In addition, kayaks vary with the sides that are built. Flared sides allow the kayak to function best while sitting deeper in the water. Old Town kayaks are produced from a variety of materials including 100% recycled plastic, polyethylene and a variable layer boat.

A few samples of models manufactured in Old Town, Maine include the Digio 106 Angler. This model lies low in the water for the fishermen to navigate through the water in silence. Rod holders are included. Another angler is the Vapor 12xt with day wells, storage for iPods and your GPS. You can travel anywhere in this model! The Cayuga and Adventure series are great for day tours. They are both set up with features that make them wonderful choices for overnighters.

Old Town kayaks have been around for decades and plan on lasting well into the new century. Priding themselves on their understanding of the native peoples craftsmanship, the company intends to thwart the competition with their high quality and easily affordable merchandise.

Now that the warm summer months are rapidly approaching, many folks find themselves wanting to get out on the water to do some fishing. This is a great activity as fishing gives a lot of people the relaxation time that they have been wanting for so long. While some folks do not mind going out on ultra-fast boats to fish, others tend to prefer the peacefulness that comes with kayaking. There is just something about sea or fishing kayaking that people cannot get enough of.

If you have yet to kayak by yourself, then it is highly recommended that you go out with someone having kayaking experience. Even though most kayakers prefer a calm ride, there are some things you’ll want to carefully watch. You might, for example, want to wait a bit before buying a kayak for yourself until you get the hang of riding and paddling one. By getting familiar with the sport first, you’ll get the experience you need to make a wise decision when it comes time to purchasing one on your own. This will also give you the chance to learn more about the sport so that you’ll get the familiarity you need when shopping for your perfect kayak.

When you head out on the water for the first few kayaking experiences, make sure that your experienced friend who’s accompanying you walks you through the ropes and answers all your questions. If you don’t have access to an experienced kayaking friend, then you will probably want to seek the advice from a professional. Many facilities now offer specialized courses in kayaking. Rent a kayak for a few hours with an instructor and you’ll get the best start towards learning this relaxing and fun activity which will provide you with a lifetime of enjoyable water and fishing experiences.

Once you’ve learned all there is to know, you can then pass your knowledge onto friends and family so that they can enjoy the fun with you. They can also get their own kayaks and go out with you for some valued, quality time on the water. Either way, kayaking provides adventures that all can enjoy amongst their friends and family. In no time, you’ll be on your way to looking like professional kayakers, and you’ll wonder how you ever fished before learning how to paddle a kayak.

Selecting a kayak is a process that begins by considering the lifestyle of you and your family. Kayaks are like many other modes of transportation: There are a wide assortment of models and styles from which to choose. The type of kayak you choose will be largely based on how you plan to use it. Let’s take a look at the five hottest brands on the market today. These brands offer a great mix of high-adventure styles. You’ll find kayaks that fit nearly every performance requirement–from maneuvering the rapids to a calm ride across the lake to a relaxing day of trout fishing.

1.) Old Town Kayaks. What does a company named the Old Town Canoe Company know about kayaks? Just about everything. Old Town is the oldest and largest canoe and kayak manufacturer, dating way back to 1898. With a much-deserved images for quality, Old Town is known best for leading the kayaking business in craftsmanship and innovation. Old Town’s kayaking line includes safe, stable sea kayaks, tandem kayaks, touring kayaks, exciting recreational kayaks and, of course, fishing kayaks. Old Town is known for combining modern materials and stylish contemporary design forms to their traditional, time-honored paddle craft. No wonder Old Town leads as a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts and sportsmen/sportswomen.

2.) Perception Kayaks. Perception answers when the Great Outdoors calls. This world-class kayaking company has been designing cutting-edge kayaks since the 1970s with their pioneering efforts in introducing the plastic kayak. Today, by using these latest innovative technologies, Perception has stayed ahead of the competition by addressing the wants, needs and desires of a new generation of kayakers. Perception kayaks are pervasive in the touring and recreational kayak line, but also have a giant selection of sporting-rec and sit-on-top kayaks to suit the needs of the most discriminating kayakers. Nearly 30 years later, the same passion that created the first line of Perception kayaks now drives development resulting in the release of sleek, new and innovatively-designed kayaks.

3.) Dagger Kayaks. The story of Dagger begins with a few kayaker friends who worked feverishly in a small shop with a dirt room floor to create leading-edge, world-class kayaks. Dagger kayaks are a kayakers favorite among all brands today. The company is well-regarded for developing and releasing the highest quality kayaks available. The Dagger kayaking line of products are field tested by a collective group of kayaking professionals known as ‘Team Dagger’ before their products are released to the public. Those who wisely purchase Dagger kayaks can feel confident knowing that their kayak met the highest standards before Dagger was willing to give it their stamp of approval.

4.) Hobie Kayaks. With a proud heritage of water craft behind them, Hobie spawned their ubiquitous brand to become a well-respected leader in sea and fishing kayaks. Hobie claims that ‘their mother was a sailboat and their father was a surfboard’. Hobie demonstrates this motto in their water craft design. This results in the creation of the most innovative, high-tech kayaks on the market today. Hobies expertise and heritage redefines the industry standard. Take, for example, their MirageDrive pedaling system. This system uses two underwater flippers similar to a penguins fins, to power the kayak. In addition, Hobie kayaks integrate a seamless, roto-molded, polethylene construction method. Some people argue that Hobie kayaks are closer to guided missiles than typical traditional kayaks of years gone by.

5.) Pelican Kayaks. Now going into their 40th year, Pelican International is recognized as a leader in producing affordable, high-quality water craft products. Pelican now produces hundreds of boats”from pedal boats and fishing boats to canoes and, of course, durable and affordable kayaks. The company has been a leader in the development of exclusive technologies that set benchmarked standards of excellence for impact resistance, and for products’ ability to regain shape after violent impacts, as well as their UV-protected exteriors. Pelican targets the recreational user, and are an excellent choice for the outdoor enthusiast looking for a balance between quality and affordability.

For those lacking current experience with kayaking, you may not fully understand what the fuss is all about. Once you’ve taken your first fishing trip on a kayak, you will likely see the light and understand what everyone has been talking about all these years. Kayaking in the ocean, river, or lake is just an all-around great time for the entire family. Since most kayaking takes place at a relaxing pace, you are forced to take your time and take in all of the scenery around you. With our lives so hectic these days, there is no reason to do anything other then move slowly and truly relax out on the water.

When you become a boat owner, you will obviously want some means of protection for your new boat against the elements. Weather can really age your boat quickly, and boat covers become a necessity in keeping your boat new and clean. When shopping around for different types of boat covers, you’ll find many options available to you, depending on what you want to spend and how customized you want your cover to be.

Boat covers can be simple slipcovers that slip right over the top of your boat and simply cover the most important parts of the boat – the insides and the engine. This will keep the mechanical parts of the engine from rusting in the rain and keep vinyl seats from cracking in the harsh sun. If you really want to make sure to get a perfect fit, you can order boat covers custom made to the dimensions of your boat, assuring that it will fit snugly with no spaces for any weather to creep in.

Other types of boat covers include temporary boat garages, which are basically simple storage facilities that are quick and easy to assemble and disassemble for the protection of your boat when it’s not in use. With these garages, you can be certain that your boat is protected from sleet, snow, rain, sun, and other elements during the winter months when you aren’t out on the lake daily. This reduces the need for any kind of garage space for your boat and solves the need a cover.

You can also use portable boat buildings as boat covers. These are often predrilled and cut to custom specifications for ease of your assembly so that your boat and all of its accessories can be stored in the building on your own property. All of these can be quite affordable and offer a solution to the problem of protecting your boat.

Without using boat covers, you would be surprised at the amount of damage that can be done to your boat in a short period of time just from the weather. Exposure to the sun can cause damage to the seat material – cracks and fraying of the material – as well as fading of the coloration of the material inside. Rain can rust metallic and mechanical parts of the boat that are not under any kind of boat covers, and hail damage could break any glass or dent any metal.

As a boat owner, you should be concerned with the condition of your boat, since it is a considerable investment for you. Be sure to use one of these boat covers to assure the safety of your boat.

Taking a cheap cruise today seems a strange thing to say. Why? Basically because the price of cruising has never been more affordable and the number of people cruising for the first time has jumped dramatically in recent years.

The truth is, if you cannot find a discount cruise holiday these days then you are not trying hard enough. In this article, we’ll concentrate on Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise lines and some of the discount cruises on offer from these two giants.

Carnival Cruise Lines

The Carnival cruise lines company is one that is committed to total guest satisfaction and which strives to ensure that each and every traveler is absolutely satisfied with their trip, from start to finish.

The emphasis on these cruises is round-the-clock fun, and they offer a ton of different activities, from Vegas-style revues to high energy discos and nightlife. Here are some real cruise bargains on offer.

For example, 3 day cruises have become extremely popular and you can grab a cheap cruise to the Bahamas for as low as $350 or Baja, Mexico for under $400. Five day cruises to the Western Caribbean will set you back just under $600 while Carnival has some excellent value in their Eastern Caribbean cruises and with a little due diligence, these can be found for under $900.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines

Another great discount cruises cruise line is Royal Caribbean International, they are most well known for the grand scale adventure that they offer on their cruises.

If you are looking for new experiences and choices for the whole family, then they are the ideal option for you. They offer discount cruises but they certainly do not skimp on quality, and offer all the possible amenities that you could imagine.

They offer discount cruises to a variety of destinations, including Australia, New Zealand, Bahamas, Bermuda, New England, Caribbean, Europe, Mexico, Orient, Panama Canal, and South America. They offer everything you could possibly imagine, including golf courses and rock-climbing walls looming up to 200 feet over the ocean.

Meanwhile, last minute cruise deals through Royal Caribbean offer great value. Holidays for less than $500 to the Caribbean for under $500 are hard to beat while those with a little more adventure should consider Alaska cruises during the summer months starting at under $700.

With a little homework, finding a cheap cruise is not difficult at all particularly if you do a little extra investigative work by checking with a variety of travel agents. You’ll be amazed how much you can get an original quote down just by asking.

If you are considering purchasing a boat, you’ll find that boat auctions will give you a wide selection to choose from as well as much lower prices. If you want to purchase a boat but have never been to an auction before, you’ll find that a few key facts can make you feel at ease with the auction itself as well as making sure that you find the boat of your dreams!

Know What You Are You Looking For

When trying to find a boat at a boat auction, it is extremely important that you take some time to study the different types of boat designs available so that you have an idea of the type of boat that you are looking for and the price that you are willing to pay. It is sometimes very easy to get carried away at a boat auction and you may end up paying a lot more than what you budgeted for. One point to consider is the use that you will be getting out of your boat. How often will you use it – seasonally or all year round? Make sure that the money that you spend on your boat is worth paying for the use and satisfaction that your boat will be giving you. Be sure to take the boat licensing, permits, registration, storage, and maintenance costs into account when calculating your budget. Another thing to remember is that, in a boat auction, there may be a five to ten percent premium on the winning bid.

How Can I Find a Good Boat Auction?

An excellent method of finding good boat auctions is by looking on the Internet. Browse the Web for information on boat auctions taking place in your area. There are also auction sites that host boat auctions online, so you do not even have to leave the comfort of your home when searching for the boat that is perfect for your needs. When placing bids for a second hand boat online, it is crucial that you make sure that the boat dealer that you are dealing with is trustworthy. Make sure that all the essential information on the boat that you are interested in is supplied to you before you make your purchase. In spite of the obvious dangers of purchasing a second hand boat online, it is an excellent way to find a super deal!

Examine The Boat Before You Purchase It

Most boat auctions make all the boats that are to be auctioned available for viewing before the auction. Make note of the boats in the lot that meet your requirements (in terms of price, features, quality, etc.) and check them out to make sure that you will be getting a good deal. Once you have found about two or three different boats, you must go and carefully research these options to discover which boat gives you the best quality at the most affordable price. Once again, ensure that you know exactly what it is that you are looking for and stick to it! Impulse buying can sometimes turn out to be very costly!

What Do You Do After Winning a Bid?

Winning a bid at an auction does not mean that you can just leave with your new boat immediately; there are a few loose ends that first need to be tied up. Contact the boat’s previous owner and ensure that all the papers and contracts are in order. Don’t forget to go through the contract very carefully – a signed contract is legally binding! Insist on complete details on the boat’s history, including details of the previous owners, maintenance or repair information, and mileage.

A boat auction is a wonderful place to find a terrific deal, if you remember what it is that you want and what you can spend. Take some time and see if you can find the boat of your dreams at your next boat auction!

“Where on earth is Lake Minnetonka? Never heard of it!”

That’s surprising, considering that it is one of the most visited tourist resorts now-a-days! Anyway, to tell you more about it, it is located in the Hennepin County of Minnesota, and this modernized version of its name originates from the old phrase used by the American Indians while referring to it—“minn-ni-tanka”, meaning “big water”! As to why they thought it was “big”, well, the lake covers a huge acreage (14,000 acres) and goes down to a maximum depth of 113 feet!

The history of this lake is an interesting one. You would be surprised to know that the lake itself is almost 11,000 years old! Even more astounding is the fact that this huge lake was formed entirely from large blocks of melting ice! It was officially named Lake Minnetonka in 1852 by the then governor of Minnesota, Alexander Ramsay.

Since the Indians gave it its name, it is obvious that they werethe first settlers around the lake. The groups were varied—Iowa, Dakota Sioux Indians, Cheyenne, and Ojibwa. The woodlands around the lake were considered sacred by these people. They were also used as their burial grounds.

The first Europeans to discover this area were Will Snelling and Joseph Brown, in 1822. Once outsiders forayed into the place, it was only a matter of time before civilization caught up with these remote shores. So the Minnetonka Hotel was established near the lake in 1853. Then the first steamboat was launched by the then Governor, Ramsay, in 1861. Tourists flocked to this Lake once the civil war came to an end, leading to the birth of the Minnetonka Yacht Club in 1889.

More changes took place in the lake during the 1950s. Around 41 million fish (most of them walleye fry) got deposited into the waters of the lake. It was but natural that someone would be interested in further research and study of the lake. Hence, the Gray Freshwater Biological Institute was established. The Institute was later taken over by the University of Minnesota.

The latest addition to this tourist destination is a Museum. The Lake Minnetonka Museum centers on local businesses, the lake itself, Excelsior Amusement Park and Excelsior High School. The Museum is kept open from the month of May till September.

Lake Minnetonka attracts a number of people (local and tourists) because of its natural beauty, its fishing prospects and all the activities going on around the lake! There are plenty of fishing tournaments held year after year, what with the large variety of fish that are available in the lake—walleye, muskellunge, sunfish, yellow perch and northern pike, among others.

Other entertainments provided are boat cruises. There are many of them up and down the lake, ever ready to ferry passengers. The rates are very reasonable. The staff on the boats very well trained and ensure that the passengers get excellent bar and catering services. All amenities are available on most of these boats. While some boats take up to groups of ten, others can even charter groups numbering 80! All in all, a boat cruise with one’s entire family at an affordable cost sounds really tempting!

Has this created an urge in you to go to Lake Minnetonka this very minute and enjoy all the pleasures that are offered there? Well, just make plans to go there on your next holiday trip! You will have no cause to regret it. The breathtaking beauty of the landscape, plus fishing and boating trips, cannot but enthrall you! Best of all is the reward of serenity that can be found in the surroundings of this old “big water”.

Go book your Lake Minnetonka Cruises today!

If you are planning to go on a cruise, there are many things to consider in order to make it really fun and memorable most importantly if it’s your first cruise.

But what are these things that you should be considering? Should you be browsing from a variety of cruise lines? Does the destination matter? Is there a certain time of year that would be ideal to take a cruise?

If you get the the needed information at the right time, you will find a great cruise deal.

Shopping around for the best cruise line is the first thing you should do and you can start by first asking friends who went on a cruise, then ask them for more information.

There are a lot of cruise ships from various cruise lines that you can choose from. But not all of them can give you the deals that you really want. Comparing prices, amenities and services will help you in narrowing down your options.

If you already have a fixed amount in mind, some sort of figure on how much you can allocate for the cruise is helpful. Don’t forget to set an allowance for contingency, like unforeseen expenses towards the duration of the trip. Some of these can be in the form of souvenir shopping or activity expenses.

Here are some of the cruise lines that you might want to take to the place of cruise destination:

- Carnival Cruise Line
- Celebrity Cruises
- Holland America
- Norwegian Cruise Line
- Princess Cruises
- Royal Caribbean International

Another matter you have to consider is your cruise destination. Here are the most common destinations that these cruise lines offer.

- Alaska
- Canada and New England
- Caribbean
- Mexico
- Panama Canal
- Europe
- Bahamas and Bermuda

So what do you need to prepare other than cash?

- Passport
- Digital Camera
- Video Camera
- Binoculars
- Clothes and Footwear
- Credit Cards
- Trunks or Swim Suit (if there is swimming involved)

Both seasoned cruisers and newbies are both always on the lookout for the latest news about cruising. They want to know the hottest trends and keep up to date with the latest deals from a variety of cruise lines that give out freebies and discounts to attract more cruisers.

But hold on a minute, if you are not comfortable in big boats out in the ocean, maybe an international cruise may not be what you are looking for. Many people do not realize that there are a lot of lake cruises in destinations that you can easily drive to. They do not cost as much, plus you don’t really need to worry about travel credentials and other stuff that would have been standard if you were taking an international cruise.

One of the most popular sailing, fishing and lake cruise destinations is Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota. Lake Minnetonka Cruises are very affordable and with a variety of charter boats available; with the smaller ones that can accommodate of 10 to the larger multi level cruisers that can host up to 80 people. You can quickly book a Lake Minnetonka Charter Boat by simply searching the internet for websites that offer these services.

Firstly, if you are checking out for a vacation cruise, it is pertinent to bring into mind a great caribbean cruise package or a good hawaiian cruise.

The islands of the Caribbean or Hawaii or most exotic locations are renowned for many things including the number of all inclusive vacation packages you can find there. In fact the number of all inclusive vacations is actually in excess of those based on a bed and breakfast basis. Many people believe that it is due to a drive to attract a greater number of tourists to the area; but there is no evidence however, that their popularity has grown specifically because of this move.

The probability is that for many people, a cruise resource well planned means that they can easily budget for costs; the amount of spending money required is minimal, a fact that is not missed by families. These vacations can even be tailored to suit individual needs where they are designed to suit a particular type of visitor. For example for people with relatives, their vacation needs are easily met; these visitors only require a flight package as their accommodation would have already been arranged.

Most people will find however, the option that will be more affordable will be an all inclusive cruise vacation. The location doesn’t really matter, it can be a great caribbean cruise package and it will be just as enjoyable.

Owing to the number of vacations booked, booking through travel operators is often less expensive than trying to arrange it for yourself. However, those travelers that are more independent would not arrange a vacation through operators no matter how tempting the financial offer. Even after all this time it is surprising how many people do not actually know what an all inclusive vacation actually includes.

Room costs will always been included in every rate quoted for a vacation, but that’s the only constant between every package. For example, all food, even snacks are part of the arrangement with this type of vacation; a great deal depends on what sort of vacation is being offered. Surprisingly, there are still a number of people that believe that a full board vacation is the same as an all inclusive one. Even so, you would want to check out this good hawaii cruise, and you’ll surprise yourself!

A full board package will include breakfast lunch and supper, but not drinks, whilst an all inclusive cruise vacation package will include meals and drinks. Some hotels also offer special vouchers which can be used at other hotels, restaurants and clubs; these are generally available at extra charge (even if they are discounted).

Conclusively,, most all inclusive cruise vacations will however, normally include all these as part of the package; usually entertainment and often excursions are part of the price, which does make it easier to enjoy a wonderful location without the need to carry any money around.

Looking for the perfect luxury trip for your vacation? Why not consider taking the Royal Caribbean Alaska cruise tour? Perhaps you didn’t know that this famous and fabulous cruise line ventured outside the tropics, but they offer many wonderful other locales as cruise destinations, and Alaska is a terrific one.

A Royal Caribbean Alaska cruise tour features both times at sea in the beautiful west coast waters and times ashore for a truly spectacular land tour component. Tours can be as short as seven nights or as long as thirteen days and you can do the land portion before or after the sea cruise in most options.

The choices are extensive with 19 different tours to Alaska alone and six more to Whistler and to the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains. You will see spectacular scenery, wildlife ashore and at sea, and awesome natural features such as glaciers and even a volcano.

Alaska is a bold state with exciting cities and charming natural preserves with something to meet every taste and expectation. On the ship, there is fabulous cuisine and the usual cruise activities in pure but affordable luxury. A Royal Caribbean Alaska cruise tour can cost the same or less as a much more mundane visit to an expensive city where costs can really add up. On a cruise tour, your expenses are completely predictable for lodging and most meals and activities.

Some of the points of interest on a Royal Caribbean Alaska cruise tour may include the enormous Mendenhall Glacier, the active Hubbard Glacier and the sparkling Juneau ice fields. Juneau also has much to remind you of the romance of the great gold rush.

Some of the experiences your tour may include are boating while at sea, fishing, and other water activities. Ashore, you can experience the thrill of a dogsled, hike among incredible scenery, or see the sights on a mountain bike. Your days can be active wilderness experiences while your nights are formal cocktail parties and dances. There is a little of everything.

When you pack for your wonderful Alaskan adventure, you need hiking shoes and clothing as well as more formal attire for nightlife and on board activities. Women need cocktail dresses and men need suits or tuxedos. You can even rent your formal wear right on the ship. Most days are quite casual. Remember how far north you are and bring some warm things even in the summer.

So what are the best honeymoon cruises on offer? Destinations such as the Caribbean, Tahiti, Europe and Hawaii quickly spring to mind. Here’s our top four honeymoon cruise destinations to consider:

1. Europe is a perfect setting for honeymooners. It’s just about on top of everyones preferred romantic holiday destination because of it’s history and romantic settings. Whether you want to visit the Greek Isles or the French Riviera or simply include Rome as part of your itinerary, Europe is hard to beat for a first time getaway together.

2. The Caribbean has many exotic attractions and for a couple very much in love, it’s an ideal setting for honeymooners. Caribbean cruises include either eastern or western Caribbean excursions with stops at locations such as St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Cozemel in the west.

3. Tahiti is one of the most beautiful destinations on the planet and while a cruise to this part of the world can be a little costly, it’s well worth it. Apart from the activities on the ship, Tahiti offers some of the most romantic locations with the most lasting impressions being left by the crystal clear waters.

4. Hawaii will make any top cruise list and for a couple on a honeymoon, it’s just perfect. Visiting islands such as Maui and Kauai, the beauty of honeymoon cruises to Hawaii is you get to spend a lot of time on the islands themselves and they are very affordable. Seven night excursions to Hawaii can be bought for under $1000.

As with shopping for any cruise deals, shopping for honeymoon cruises is no different. Booking well ahead makes good sense and by shopping around and comparing prices you’ll give yourself the best chance of landing the best deal. Remember, most of the top cruise lines service the areas mentioned above so don’t limit yourself to just one company or service.

Sailing And Sail Boats

Sailing boats has been one of my biggest passions since I was very little. My dad owned a sail boat – a model called a Flying Scott, pretty stable but reasonably peppy too. We used to take all of our friends out on day sailing trips around the lake. There wasn’t that far to go or that much to see, but even so, it was nice to feel the clear wind blow as we tooled around the lake.

As I grew older, however, I have less and less chance to go sailing on the lake. Sailboats were not a big part of my life. I was getting ready for college, then I was moving away, and finally I was settling into my own career. Now that I am a little bit older, however, I want to get back into sail boats again. I have actually been looking into boat shows for the past year, but it is hard to decide. Sail boat designs have changed so much since I was young, and they cost more than ever. Of course you can get financing for purchases, but I am definitely not in a place where I want to get further into debt! It took me a while to decide, but I finally figured out how to get back into sailing.

Over the summer, we took a sail boat charter on the ocean. It was one of the most exciting events of my life. We left from San Francisco, sailed up the coast, and eventually docked in Seattle. Some of it was pretty rough sailing, but it was all a lot of fun. Best of all, we didn’t have to do very much of the work. Most of it was all done for us! And because we chartered the boat along with several other couples, it was a pretty affordable trip. All in, it was not much more expensive than a normal vacation, although it was one of the most thrilling adventures we have ever had.

Now that I know what I want, I have been looking at sailboat classifieds. It won’t be long until I find the perfect sail boat. The great thing about buying used boats is that they depreciate so quickly in value if any damage is done to them. That means that, if you are willing to do some repair work yourself, you can get a used sail boat for next to nothing! You just have to know where to look.
