GPS were originally used in military and other government applications. Today, it is also used in other areas like navigation and sports. Though GPS is composed of electronic devices, some handhelds can be used in water.

This is all possible because GPS is already made waterproof for practical navigation and sports. Though they were originally intended for land use in military and government applications, technology enabled GPS to be functional in water despite its electronic components.

Though they used to be expensive, waterproof units are now available at an affordable price. For sea kayakers, it provides accurate data about their path in the middle of the sea. Bikers can also benefit from waterproof units because they encounter varying weather conditions aside from moist and humidity. It is also portable and easy to use, making it an indispensable navigational tool for sportsmen.

In buying waterproof GPS handhelds, some characteristics should be understood because they often appear in specifications sheet and are good measures when comparing units. The following terms are also applicable for non-waterproof GPS.

POI or Points of Interest: Aside from maps, GPS features setting of POIs or waypoints along the course taken by the user. Such waypoints can be a public restroom, campsite, or coordinates where they changed directions. It helps travelers and sportsmen to remember important spots and make their way back. Some models allow log tracking and sharing of waypoints between handhelds.

Topographical Maps: Most GPS can electronically display 2D or 3D maps, but older models do not. For such models, plotters will be required to have a printout of the map. Advanced models can go beyond normal topographic information by implementing Digital Elevation Model technology, commonly called as DEM. It is a feature to have better visualization of contours at different zoom levels. Moreover, handhelds can store new maps by accessing data cards and compact discs.

Some advanced features of waterproof GPS handhelds are touch screen displays, switching from driving and sports activities, and memory slots. Some also features displaying of marine information like sea depth, ports, and tidal information as well as digital compasses. The package is floatable in case it is dropped in water. Two-way radio is sometimes included in the unit, but using it might require FCC license to ensure that it will not cause interference with other device.

Touch screen and switching between urban driving, hiking, and water sports are some advanced features of waterproof GPS handhelds. It can also have memory slots and digital compass. Since its main feature is usability in water, new models also show sea depth, docks, and other related information. Its package was designed to float to get it easier when dropped in water. Some units have built-in radios to provide communication within 5 miles, as long as there will be corresponding FCC license.

I was looking around for some information on Seadoo pwc covers and came across some really interesting information on the history of Seadoos and personal watercraft in general. I am a bit of a history buff so I put off the seadoo cover search and gobbled up a little history lesson.

I have to admit that I’m definitely part of the older crowd now, so you would think I already know when these water machines were created. I didn’t have the money back then to even consider buying one, so in fact I didn’t pay close attention to them at the time. I had always thought that pwcs came out in the 80′s, but little did I know that was only the refinement – digging a little deeper gave me a much better picture of the early evolution.

It was actually in the mid 1960′s that the Canadian family who invented the ski-doo snowmobiles (the Bombardier family) started to think of a snowmobile type water vehicle for getting around their lake in Quebec, Canada. After starting some design ideas they ran into some difficulties, at which point they found an inventor from the US by the name of Jacobsen who was already designing a similar vehicle.

Jacobsen wanted to create a motorcycle that traveled on water. After meeting with the Bombardier family Jacobsen agreed to help. Before long, Jacobsen designed what would be the first Seadoo. Bombardier bought out Jacobsen’s interest in the project and added a rounded hull and their signature yellow and black Ski-doo coloring. Bombardier also marketed the yellow and black seadoo covers. The Seadoo was offered to the general market in 1968. A slightly improved model with a liquid cooled engine was offered in 1969.

The Bombardier Seadoos of 1968 and 1969 had some problems. Engine technology was a big limiting factor in the lack of success of the early Seadoos. The first engine was air cooled and the later engine was liquid cooled. Both engines had drawbacks. Corrosion was also a huge problem. the salt water literally ate away at the machines. Jacobsen’s idea about using rubber and plastic were carelessly not embraced by the Bombardier family.

The Bombardier family ran out of steam on this first version of the Sea Doo, and they retired the idea for about 20 years. In the meantime, the rights to the invention reverted to Jacobsen a few years later, after which point he partnered with Kawasaki and went on to develop the Jet Ski. The Bombardier family would then revive their idea and release the modern Sea Doo 1988. So from searching for Sea Doo covers, to the history of the Sea Doo – there is a lot of interesting background before my favorite watercraft came into being!

Some of the benefits offered by bass boats include easier handling, larger storage facilities, a dryer ride and a more spacious deck area for easier casting.

Considering all of their many benefits, bass fishing boats are the ideal choice when you want to spend some time on the water in search for highly coveted bass fish. If you do enjoy water sports then you might consider shopping for fish and ski boats that make it possible to fish as well as enjoy water sports. You also need to take into consideration whether you will be fishing only or whether you will be engaging in water sports as well when you are out on the water. In terms of price, keep in mind that bass boats are available at entry-level prices as well as higher prices for upgraded and luxury models. While you could use practically any boat for bass fishing, you will find that bass boats certainly make it easier and more enjoyable to bass fish.

Bass boats offer serious anglers a number of important advantages. Take the engine of the boat into consideration as well. When shopping for bass boats, it is important to make sure you consider the compartments and accessories that are available on the boat. The presence of a trolling motor can also be important when you are shopping for bass boats as well. If you like the idea of having a bass boat with more features but you cannot afford the larger price tag, consider shopping for used bass boats.

For instance, you will want to ensure that the boat offers plenty of compartments for storing rods as well as tackle. You will also need to look to ensure it has a livewell. Other types of accessories that you may wish to look for when shopping for bass boats include a radar system that makes it easier to locate the fish. You will certainly want to ensure that the engine is powerful enough for all of your needs. Whether fishing for your own enjoyment or entering bass fishing tournaments, bass fishing boats are an ideal choice.

This can be a good option if you are considering entering competitions and need the extra features but are not ready to pay additional money. If you savor going out with others when you bass fish, you will also find that bass boats more easily accommodate larger groups of anglers than many other boats.

by Ferdinand Emy

It is vital to remember that crappie fishing is a blend between patience and a careful touch on your line.

For those who enjoy fishing but do not want the challenge of difficult trophy fish, crappie fishing may be for you. Like other species of fish, there is tackle best suited for crappie fishing. Ultra light rods are often suggested to see the play of a crappie bite, as these fish have soft bites. Due to their small size, it is suggested that you use either two pound or four pound test. If you are fishing in a region with bass or pike, it is suggested that you go with four pound test to allow you to catch the other fish that may be in the area.

While you still need a fishing license, many areas that support crappie have no limits on the number you can catch. If limits are in place, the numbers that you can bring in are quite high, and many people do not get close to reaching the number of crappie that can be caught. Crappie are small fish with a similar flavor to perch, but tend to be slightly sweeter. Crappie fishing is very common due to how common the fish are.

As pike and walleye may hunt in areas populated with crappie, this can open up other options for you. When crappie fishing, you will typically be targeting the bottom of the area you are fishing. If you are fishing in an area with pike or walleye, you may consider adding extra tackle to your kit to allow you to catch all of the types of fish active in the area. This lets you stock up your fridge and freezer on the fish without as much worries on regulations for the fish.

With fish ranging in the six inch to ten inch range, they provide a decent amount of fight for their size, a crucial aspect of finding edible sports fish. In many places, the crappie populations have been tagged as too high, with few rules and regulations on the number of crappie that you can take home. Bobbers may be used to keep the lure in the kill zone, which is usually a little above the bottom of the water. Keeping your lure in motion will often help detect a crappie bite and let you land these fish. When you are setting up your line, you will need to adjust your bobbers according to where you are casting, as you will be less effective at fishing for crappie if you keep your line touching the bottom.

Hunting dates back many, many centuries as a form of recreation as well as a method for food. A high level of hunters within the UK, Canada, the USA, and various other nations buy hunting equipment during the year. But if you are an experienced hunter, you know there is a knack for choosing the appropriate hunting supplies.

Most stores with hunting equipment sell more than archery supplies and guns—they also include fly-fishing rods, backpacks, binoculars, scopes, hunter’s clothing, along with other supplies to make sure you enjoy your hunting expedition. You want to be sure you have all the necessary equipment. Mentioned in this article are a few necessities that could prove essential for your journey into the wild woods.

Buy Hunting Equipment

Obviously the game you’re aiming for will dictate the shooting gear you’ll bring. Assuming you begin with large game, it could require a rifle. For smaller game, a handgun will prove more accurate. It could be necessary to have a tree stand, a scope, a field dressing kit and camouflage outfit, no matter the size of game. You may also think about goggles, a gun case and something to guard your ears from the blast.

An essential accessory no hunter should be without is a scope. They’re used for telling the distance away from your target you are—they should fit on properly and snugly. An improperly-fitted scope will become a stumbling block for success.

UK Buy Hunting Equipment

Some people lean towards archery hunting equipment – for instance long bows or crossbows. Bows and arrows may be located at the best hunting gear stores.

Online store can also be found inside all countries. You can often get a discount for brand-named gear there. A solid web-based store will offer shooting and hunting add-ons, eye and ear protection, field and outdoor sport supplies, more gear like bow and arrow supplies. Of course, there are brick and mortar hunting supply shops in most local areas.

Don’t buy your equipment from shady dealers. You stand a better chance of buying a quality product with good service. Whose shop you get goods from ought to be somewhat the result of who gives you great service. Regardless of whether you’re gaming inside the UK or abroad, if you search diligently and patiently, you will find the most suitable places to buy hunting equipment.

Anyone who is going out to hunt needs to have the ability to spot their quarry from a distance, so as to hold the advantage while tracking game. For this reason, it’s important to carry along supplies which include binoculars, spotting scopes, and telescopic sights. Having these can be a huge advantage – especially when using night vision sights for evening hunting expeditions.

From knives and bows, to shotguns and rifles, Keen’s Tackle and Guns has what you need if you are looking to buy hunting equipment in the UK.

A Seadoo Cover beauty contest is the last thing I expected to see at a race. All of the racers, including myself are keen to get those covers off and get on to the water! However, a few months before the tournament I mentioned to the organizers that I had started a seadoo pwc cover blog and that seemed to pique their interest. The next thing I knew the organizers included an optional cover contest at dusk on Saturday evening.

The seadoo cover industry is a huge industry. The individual machine manufacturers hope to make up to 50% of their annual profit in brand marked after sales. After market products include covers, stickers, t-shirts, hats, etc. It can be anything that can hold a logo. There are also independent marine cover retailers offer all sorts of covers and can customize them for you. The most successful riders are sponsored by a number of different products and businesses and their covers are covered in different logos. Although loathe to admit it, most riders take their seadoo pwc covers very seriously.

When I asked around Saturday morning, no one would admit to wanting to enter the contest. I did not mention that I would be blogging about it as I thought that might deter people even further. After all, the whole idea was a bit novel and inconsistent with the macho sport of personal watercraft racing.

After the races were over and the riders were relaxing I went to find the organizer to discuss how we might get people to sign up for the cover contest. The competitors were standing around in small groups getting reacquainted and discussing the waves. I overheard some small talk about the cover contest. I overheard some of the winners telling those less successful that maybe they had a chance in the cover beauty contest. In response, some riders were telling other riders that they had no hope in the cover contest. As the sun began to set, claims of having the coolest cover became more insistent. All of a sudden guys were rushing to their machines to dry them off and get them covered.

Once family was permitted to enter, we got 4 or 5 contestants immediately. There was a clear sentimental favorite as it was presented by a dancing 5 year old. The custom details were vines and roses as the watercraft was based out of Roses Marina. The cover itself was a light green water resistant material with thick darker green stitching.

The seadoo cover contest was a lot of fun. I can see it being repeated at this competition year after year. Some of the competitors were taking about swapping covers with some of the international competitors at bigger events. This tournament has always been one of my favorites. As always, it was a lot of quality racing but this year it had the added twist of featuring custom designed seadoo pwc covers.

Many hrs of entertainment, enjoyment and fun out on the water can be provided to you by boating. Prior to heading out to the water; nevertheless, it is critical to make sure you understand a few basic boating safety elements to make sure that you as well as your guests on board stay safe.

A check for safety tools on board is one of the most important boating safety guidelines to bear in mind for safety tool on board. Always make sure that there’s more than enough mandatory equipment needed by the US Coast Guard on board your boat before heading out for a day of boating on the water.

Personal floating devices or life jackets are critical boating safety devices. Ensure that is enough number of life jackets for everybody on board your boat. In Particular, there is need for you to insure that there are adequate life jackets that will fit everybody who will be on your boat. Check to insure that all the life jackets are working properly and that all of the clips and straps are functional. You should check your state’s laws on boating to determine the minimum age that people are supposed to wear life jackets every time.

Another crucial piece of boating safety tool is a fire extinguisher. You should always have at least one fire extinguisher on board your boat and it should always be placed where it can be easily reached in case of emergency. Either a type C or type B is the optimal type of fire extinguisher to possess for boating safety, because these types of fire extinguishers are especially built for fidgeting gas and oil, grease and electrical fires.

You may also wish to bear some visual distress signals on board your boat as well. They are mandatory tools in most states. You will be capable of sending up these signals to alert rescue forces of your precise location in case you experience emergency.

Lastly, ensure that you have a well equipped high quality first aid kit on board your boat. Boating can sometimes lead to various small injuries, while it would certainly be hoped that you would never have an use for it. Placing a well stocked first aid kit on board will assist you to effectually treat injuries until you get back on land.

Seadoo covers show pride of ownership. It might be your first pwc or your fifth, going to the effort of getting a properly fitted seadoo pwc cover shows that you respect your machine. Seadoos are powerful and expensive machines. Failure to treat them right will only make your machine look shabby when compared to the machines of others.

Making sure you use some sort of cover to protect your pwc is one part of keeping your seadoo in the best shape possible for as long as possible; but the other part of keeping your watercraft in great shape is making sure that you properly prepare your pwc before putting it away for any length of time. Periodic maintenance will keep things running smoothly, but you need to pay special attention to fixing problems and preparing your seadoo for storage in order to keep it looking and running like brand new.

There are many things you must do to ‘Winterize’ your pwc (you will want to follow this same procedure any time your pwc will be out of use for an extended time, even if it is not winter). These include at a minium: getting rid of any salt and dirt, including from the cooling system, stabilizing the fuel, lubing any cables and lube spots, protecting any rubber or vinyl parts, and removing the battery. Once all the routine storage tasks have been done, fix any broken parts or nagging problems (cracked or waterlogged dials) so they won’t be issues for next seadon. Finally, once everything is ship-shape, cover your pwc with an appropriate cover that will adequately protect your pwc while it is stored.

In order to properly cover your pwc for storage over the winter, or just an extended period when you won’t be using your seadoo, you have to determine the extend of protection that your watercraft requires. For example, if you are going to winter your seadoo, and you are unlucky enough to have to store it outdoors, then finding the best quality weather proof seadoo cover makes the most sense.

Storing inside offers many more options for choosing a pwc cover for your seadoo. You can re-use your summer cover or the cover you use to trailer your seadoo. If your cover protects your seadoo, but allows your seadoo to breathe over the winter, this will allow the maximum protection without accumulating damage from moisture buildup.

Over the years I’ve had many seadoo covers, of all shapes and sizes, and just as many materials and ranges of quality. Of course, I’m lucky to have owned seadoos for the better part of my adult life, but needing to protect my pwcs for all those years gave me the chance to figure out what a difference quality makes when it comes to pwc covers.

If you respect your passion for seadoos then you need to treat your machines with respect. Choose a seadoo cover that is right for your needs and you will not regret it.

Fishing bait from fishing shops can really make going carp fishing an expensive passion! Many anglers are now so conditioned to using readymade baits that they have never seriously considered the huge advantages of making very unique baits for themselves, but they will catch as many if not higher numbers of fish than commercial baits. The fact that homemade bait will cost you a fraction of the cost of readymade baits and over the days and weeks shocking savings can be achieved with no less fish (in fact quite the opposite!)

In fact when you have made your homemade baits despite any mistakes you might make, well over 80 percent of your recipes will catch fish and equal results on readymades with ease. The fact they will be fresh and new is a giant factor in this too. New baits will arouse far less care and suspicion for most fish as they have never even been hooked on your new bait before. One of the great things about homemade baits is that they can keep you well ahead of the fish and fellow anglers who always follow the crowd using readymades, giving you even better consistent catches and more big fish!

Now I’m not saying that you will produce a wonder bait which fish simply jump straight into your net and beg for! Even with the very best baits, all the usual skills of fish location, bait application and skilfully playing your big fish are still required. But on your own homemade baits, the rewards and joys of catching your personal life time best fish on your personal secret bait formula is just incredible. This is why it is so important to exploit the massive fish catching factor of making your baits very unique.

This is a point lost on most readymade bait users! The great edge of bait is being different to ones fish wary of already as a result of previous hooking and captures on it. So make your baits as unique as possible as frequently as you think your results indicate you may need to.

Homemade baits often succeed far longer than many readymade baits purely because you are the only one using that particular bait! Baits for carp are often termed attractor baits or food baits depending on their nutritional value to the fish biologically speaking. High flavour levels and high concentrations if used are sometimes an indicator of a bait being more of an instant attractor type of bait much more than a food or nutritionally stimulating oriented bait.

It might sound hard, but making baits that really work effectively is easy, and your baits do not need to be perfect like commercially produced machine rolled round or barrel shaped boilies or pellets shapes etc. There are obviously very many methods of making baits and you do not need to follow conventional steps at all, in fact there are many steps you can leave out completely. This makes things very much easier, saves hours of time and take the least effort possible!

You do not have to make individual baits in round shapes. Why not roll out a bait paste made of eggs, liquid additives and dry powders made into a dough and simply cut this into little odd shaped pieces? You could pop these into a pan of boiling water for about a minute or so to make boilies.

Making homemade bait is as hard as finding a bowl a mixing spoon or knife, a few eggs and some flours or other dry ingredients. Many flours about the house will bind to form a bait, from semolina and soya to maize and corn flour, and dried rice flour. For example, crack 5 or 6 eggs into a bowl and whisk them adding any flavouring or liquids additives you might choose, like ketchup or a flavoring from the baking aisle of your local store. Take 8 ounces of semolina and the same of soya flour and slowly add to your eggs until a dough the feel of putty is made. It is very easy and quick and with practice you can do this at lightening speed!

When your dough is ready you can use it immediately, or put it labelled plastic bags for later use. Store baits in the fridge or freeze them. It is best to make a note of the ingredients and levels in each individual bait mix. To make around a kilogram of bait it takes about 6 eggs with your dry powders. But this is a very rough guide and every mix can vary widely depending on ingredients, their solubility etc.

I understand value like anyone else so making homemade bait for 3 pounds as opposed to buying it for 12 pounds makes great economic sense. This is startling especially when you think of the saving on 10 or 20 kilograms of homemade baits compared to commercially produced readymade ones. The saving can be in the region of 80 or 90 pounds for just 10 kilograms of bait. You will have been using many kilograms in a season so figure your savings on homemade bait, it could easily total you not hundreds but thousands of pounds so easily saved!

If having a different bait can produce such a difference in results you may as well have the goal of being as innovative as possible with yours as you create new versions for those big fish you dream of catching. The spooky thing about new baits on a water is that they very often produce the biggest most sought after fish within a short space of fishing time because they are fresh and new. Now this is as great a motive as anyone needs to take up bait making and is the icing on the cake. You can use simple forms of bait mentioned here, but you will discover that with successful baits comes the excitement of making more creative ones, and bait making can be extremely exciting, even an integral addictive part of your fishing, as you thirst for more information!

Saving yourself the cost of expensive bait is one of the most important factors in fishing success for many carp fishermen. It can take quantities of expensive readymade bait to achieve great results and if you have a way of making this very quickly and very cheaply then you can save yourself untold fortunes and catch as many if not more fish than on readymade baits. Once you have a few basic bits of information on making baits you are free to create unique economical baits for big fish for years to come and save yourself a real fortune!

For the more technically minded fisherman, carp do not get their energy needs from carbohydrates but mostly protein and also fats and oils in their natural diet. Being aquatic they are extremely well adapted to extract far more energy from protein foods than humans on land. The very basic protein requirements of carp are extremely significant in terms of making effective baits because these are composed of basic building blocks called amino acids, some of which carp essentially need to consume in order to survive.

There are around 10 basic essential amino acids that carp need although there are a few others, but let’s keep things as simple as possible for now. These include: lysine, methionine, arginine, phenylalanine, valine, tryptophan, leucine, isoleucine, histidine and threonine. Carp eat foods containing these amino acids because they are essential. Using almost anything that a fish basically needs to survive can give you the edge you need to get bites although exploiting fish nutritional needs are not the only way to get bites; in fact, far from it!

Our bodies and carp bodies have evolved and adapted to extract energy in the most efficient ways from food found in our natural environments. With carp we can simulate or even boost the natural attraction and stimulation of substances found in their natural foods in our baits. The range of ingredients, extracts, liquid attractors, flavors etc we can use to exploit carp natural food detection senses is phenomenal and ensures we can always make unique homemade baits!

The fuss made about protein carp baits is fair because exploiting dietary essential, particularly highly stimulatory ones such as amino acids is very significant for good results. But just because amino acids are popularly exploited by using protein ingredients does not mean you have to use protein ingredients at all in our baits, and there are very many other angles and approaches to take which are very economical indeed and even wheat, rice or corn flour based baits made with some know-how work a treat! All you need to do is manipulate and exploit any of a range of attractor and stimulator substances, many of which you can add by way of proprietary liquid dips and soaks etc.

But protein based baits are not strictly necessary to get bites of course and a multitude of baits including those based on carbohydrates like wheat flour or corn flour will still catch very well indeed providing they are altered to keep them in effect new and different to previous baits. Many of the most economical bait recipes based on carbohydrate ingredients have consistently caught big fish for decades despite arguments raging over quality food versus crap baits and other theories. If you keep changing your attractors even just by using alternative proprietary flavor dips you can always keep ahead of your fish on any particular fishery; just remember to exploit what stimulates fish naturally and avoid over-dosing with solvent based flavours unless you are fishing single bait style.

So many carp fisheries are over-stocked that the fish need to eat your bait and treat it as natural food. As many carp anglers know well, possibly the greatest edge is to be different and so you can fish with confidence against any well-used readymade commercial bait knowing your unique bait has a great edge of being different and unique. This is one great motivator for me to make my own extremely economical and productive homemade carp baits rather than spend 10 pounds or 20 Dollars on a bag of readymade bait that others are already using!

You might wish to use things like bird foods which can be used both as binders and cheap but nutritional ingredients and just add eggs for example to help bind and can boost your bait protein and nutrition considerably despite carp digestion limiting effects in low temperatures especially. Bait making does not need to be rocket science and the simplest and cheapest of bait recipes catch big fish regularly for decades if fished well. Although carp love proteins for there amino acids particularly, stimulatory and attractive substances are so varied that you will never be short of a new effective homemade bait or alternative potent and unique readymade bait dip; all you need is quality know-how…

You pay a fortune on bait hoping to catch lots of big fish and yet the average carp angler is just that – average, because he catches no more fish than the rest. This literally means something he is doing or thinking approach just is not working. Most anglers simply throw money in the bin in bait costs etc because they have missed something so very vital to success!

Most often carp and catfish anglers use boilies, pellets and hemp, maize and sweetcorn and prepared commercial ground baits, as free baits to attract and hold fish in their swim. And these are obviously consistent baits for fish like carp and catfish. But often the hidden (or obvious) problem, is that you end up with many fish gorging upon your free ground baits and not getting hooked at all, or comparatively little, compared to the feeding activity going on in your swim. This happens far more than anyone is really accurately aware of and is a more truly shocking thing when you calculate just how much of your bait is consistently going to waste…

There is no point spending money to feed fish unless perhaps you are a fish farmer! If you keep on doing what is not working most efficiently and expecting different results, this is akin to the common definition of insanity. Carp and catfish are living dynamically reactive creatures and really do remember and associate with dangerous baits, rigs, spots in swims, tackle detected and so on.

Even hard-fished for big catfish as well as carp can become particularly unresponsive to popular baits and techniques even though they may have been so successful previously! So how do you save all this wasted money on bait used in free baiting and actually improve your catches by converting your baiting into more fish, consistently; because that is the big issue here! You see it is not just bait costs which mount up through the year, but all the associated but increasing costs of fishing; like time not earning, travelling costs, food and drink money, fishing memberships or tickets, the huge regular costs of replacing all those fishing tackle bits etc!

Making your bait money equal more consistent catches in the short and long-term will certainly save you money in results terms per pound or dollar spent as less is actually wasted. Yes there are fisheries which are so easy a bare hook catches fish, but I’m referring here more to fishing hard syndicate waters, or the popular fishing pressured and over-crowded day-ticket waters where fish respond negatively to anglers baits and fishing pressure. How do you know what you are missing if all you do is measure your results compared to the average catches for a water, when the reality is that the average catches on a water may be very different indeed from what is truly possible for any individual angler?

Many wary fish on pressured waters will not feed on fresh baits put out as free baits, and those that do may even feed in far more alert modes of behaviour in order to detect dangerous hook baits more easily. If you got hooked each time you ate something your confidence and behaviour in eating something you desire is obviously going to change because such food is potentially it is a threat to your survival, despite when baits being designed to promote fish’s survival and you might wait 3 days or more before eating the leached-out baits! (It is a well-known fact that fish will feed far more confidently on bait that has been washed out as few anglers hook fish on such baits and so the associated danger of such baits is drastically reduced!)

Many anglers on pressured waters introduce their free baits into a swim upon arrival and then after leaving fishless perhaps after 48 hours, another angler comes along and again introduces fresh bait in the same swim; mostly with the same fishless result! Looking at the bigger picture, this kind of thing must go on constantly all over the world on pressured carp waters. Of course over time the fish might eat the old baits gathering in the swim with more confidence and Mr average angler times it lucky and gets a surprise fish result while being oblivious that he’s fishing over other anglers build-up baits. But sometimes the gathered bait can all go off and kill the swim completely (again, this is something Mr average angler may be completely unaware of as he proceeds to bait up, again…)

When carp fishing becomes an automatic function of relatively thoughtless actions, the results become mediocre and this is no surprise as so many anglers simply underestimate the sensitivity of carp to angling baits, tackle, and all the kinds of active and inactive presences of anglers they detect so easily; what worked previously is not guaranteed to work today! On pressured waters each day can find the fish acting differently as you might do in order to consistently stay one step ahead of a predator, (and sometimes this is one example of why man evolved being able to be self-aware, rationalise problems and think of solutions, but this is vastly under-used in fishing!)

I am lucky enough to have caught a rare very pale white 38 pound carp that had not been caught in over 7 years, from one UK water. In this instance it took the regular very unusually light style and frequency of baiting a swim, with a totally new bait to that water and for a week long period, that scored (and this big fish was followed by many more as a result.)

It took new bait attractors and rarely used feeding triggers in (new concentrations and combinations,) plus new baiting approaches, methods and applications to catch that very special fish which was followed by numbers of other good fish proving the effort of though even more worth-while. But there is something on every water to exploit that defeats the natural and angler-trained conditioning of fish responses and reactions to what you do in order to catch them. Being different even in one single way or combining new, adapted or new combinations of old ways etc can all achieve what just going through the motions cannot!

If you take the time to analyse the short-term and long-term impacts of what other anglers are doing on your water and link that to the negative (or positive) impacts on fish behaviours over any time period, you may begin to see how to exploit both fish and angler behaviour creatively. This thought is unique to your fishing situation at any point in time so will most likely produced the most accurately tuned possible actions, processes, thoughts and actions to solve the particular fishing challenges present. By analysing your fishing challenges and fishing situation in regards impacts of your fishing (and of other anglers) upon fish really can means you can save a fortune in wasted bait; as what you do use is leveraged with far greater results in catches in relation to money spent on bait achieving these!

To leverage the true power of your baits does take a little extra effort on your part but that effort is never wasted! But I hope this article makes you think a little more of further possibilities the next time you bait-up, as usual… This bait secrets ebooks author has many more fishing secrets insights and bait edges available and just one could impact very significantly on your big fish catches!

Most anglers who buy baits use them with blind faith because they really do not appreciate what actually happens in the fish that induces them to take a bait into their mouths and in doing so get themselves hooked! Imagine the power of being able to harness this knowledge where applicable. How much do think this advantage over the fish and over other anglers will multiply your catches?

Most anglers use readymade carp baits because they have become conditioned to because of easy availability, but confidence form slick advertising and advertorials etc are most often the bait that hooks such anglers and certainly not first-hand experience. Often the catches on new baits are made by the best, sharpest and most aware anglers using the edge of a new bait, and most anglers over-look this. If you have not used a bait before and not only do not know what it is made with nor how it works in detail, then my friend, you are fishing on blind faith not confidence.

But why would you need to know anything about bait; maybe you catch your share, maybe you know a range of baits that have worked on your waters previously that you can turn to. Well if you know little about carp vital senses and how to manipulate them to induce more takes you are missing out; big-time and it’s like using putting back on the shelf a flavour with 10 times the potency of anther because the packaging is less flashy, and choosing another flavour that you like the smell of, never realising how much it lacks compared to the other flavour… For instance, many anglers just think flavours are solvent based or natural, or nature-identical and pretty much all the same, but the actual definition of flavours in fishing are extremely diverse and some flavours like chilli compounds even stimulate carp senses more powerfully than usual pulling fish to your swim from ranges many other flavours fail to.

Many secrets are hidden from our senses but uncovered very easily by a little messing about with baits and some very elementary science, for instance, many carp bait substances change when in water into different ones to those we experience as humans in air… Garlic releases that pungent smell when broken in air and we are all familiar with similar compounds from onions and chives for example. But the smells from garlic we associate with its success are not strictly accurate, as certain of the key chemicals do not get produced in water the same as in air, and this might suggest to some thinking anglers that far more is going on, perhaps on a more deeper level to do with the biology of the fish in response to bioactive garlic substances rather than just a smell or taste.

Carp are turned-on by far more than a vanilla or strawberry flavour combination and in fact often these will provide no response at all as they are not true feeding triggers as such, but some bait substances compensate for this by affecting carp in far more profound ways internally! Science is hard right; well I did an easy test on carp baits today by eating wheat-free biscuits and a wheat free doughnut; all done in interests of science and in the best possible taste! Sometimes there are substances used in foods and baits which are naturally there or added deliberately which induce you brain create the sensation of pleasure so you enjoy them more…

On eating the wheat-free foods I did not want to keep eating them and certainly Homer Simpson would have a shock if his doughnuts were wheat-free as there is something internally potent missing in them! Beyond all the flavours, sweeteners, enhancers and other goodies already added to those biscuits and doughnut (I say doughnut as I could only eat one,) something vital was missing. That missing substance that in wheat for example causes the release of feel-good hormones in the wheat-free foods was gone, and I really missed it!

If you ate food frequently that tasted and smelled good but had no further incentive to keep you eating more of it, you will more than likely eat something else in preference if that food does has an extra feel-good brain chemical releasing impact. The bait or food which creates more pleasure is preferential in humans and it is the same in fish! You brain chemicals are directing your actions on a basic level and when it comes to the impact of a key part of wheat, your actions as a result of eating it can very easily be to eat more; more cake, toast, biscuits, doughnuts etc, this is one vital reason people so easily over-eat these foods and create behavioural cyclic eating problems!

Many foods are made with substances that further impact on the brain to eat you to eat it more because it means the producers make more money and you actually get into a habit of eating it, and finding foods without such habit-inducing chemicals can be quite a hard thing to do if you try to rid your diet, body and brain to become free from their influence! Think tiger nuts or peanuts, now these are not exactly the most packed nutritional foods on the planet, but even though hemp is a super food in its own right, it too has substances with brain influencing impacts and practical consideration these aspects of bait ingredients, flavours etc can really get you the edge over fish, and other competing baits. You can term it using habit-forming or addictive substances to manipulate fish behaviours or just call it good use of what a bait should really be – i.e. addictive! The bait secrets ebooks author offering this has much more to reveal to those wanting better baits and bigger catches but this will certainly help you!

It will probably come as a surprise to many fishermen that fish alternate frequently between one feeding mode and another, in order to best profit from various food opportunities available in the aquatic environment even within a short time period and this can change many times even over an hour or 24 hour period. The way fish feed is key to how best to tempt them in order to get a hook in their mouth and catch them, but few anglers actually give this immensely important subject the attention it demands. But the good news is that you can induce many fish feeding modes simply and easily in order to catch more fish purely by exploiting what comes naturally to them…

If you ever fished a match using tiny hooks for bloodworm or jokers as bait, you will know how powerful these fish catching baits are. One of the best feeding triggers for carp and one of the most abundant amino acids found in mature carp tissues is alanine which also happens to be found in abundance in blood worms and jokers. Fish instinctively feed in the most energy efficient way depending on the food supply available and how and where it is located and how spread out or dense or large or small the food items are.

Many carp anglers do not realise carp can feed on items as small as algae and tiny zooplankton crustaceans, even under a millimetre in size and derive extremely significant nutrition from such small organisms. These are very rich foods and are often exploited when fluctuations of populations are especially favourable and in spring and summer help in the time leading up to and after spawning. The success of fine particulate feeds like fine fish meal and bread crumb ground baits in many ways echo this mode of feeding which in this case can occur at any level in the water or sediment.

This kind of feeding or similar can be used to further explore the potential of your hook baits and free baits as food items even before your bait is actually touched by a fish. You might have seen a fish suddenly dart towards a bait after having started gulping in water first to taste your bait more efficiently using taste buds in the pharyngeal cavity in the gill area. Fish also use gulping in a snapping motion in a mobile pump feeding) or static position to filter feed and particulate feed and carp and bream do this much of the time in turbid lakes; lazy of what!

Filter feeding is very interesting because fish like carp can gain masses of nutrients to promote their growth in safe ways without eating your baits. But they can also derive nutrients from your baits in suspension and in solution as they leach out amino acids, nucleic acids, oils and slats for instance, without actually eating your baits. So it makes sense to drive fish into a feeding frenzy mode as far as possible by inciting this natural feeding mode.

It is natural for fish like bream, roach, carp, tench, barbel, and even bass and trout, to filter feed at times by capturing various sized food particles within their branchial sieves. However there this sieving can be adjusted in order to capture patches of fine particles or to capture larger single items and the characteristic speed of this feeding can vary between species. In the case of carp which are termed slow suction feeders, although they can suck up finer particles from one head length away from it at surprisingly high velocities indeed.

It often seems to be the case that carp fishing baits focus goes on chemical smells for instance which are very obvious to our senses, but it needs to be remembered that fish have extremely fine tuned lateral line cells which use electrochemical impulses in the detection of food items even by the tiny movements of zooplankton only 1 millimetre in diameter. The gape size of a fish’s mouth is normally not a limiting factor in efficient feeding, but the diameter of the area where the food is chewed is and it is often far less than the gape of the mouth. Therefore its makes sense to exploit this and use smaller baits than often recommended. In fact carp in turbid lakes predominantly depend on food which is in particle size, so why not go with this approach not against it!

Smaller food items can naturally be passed to the throat teeth in mouthfuls without any problem and of course the more energy efficient the food delivery system is the better. It can often be the case that small baits are the preferred choice of more experienced big fish anglers because they can see the benefits of smaller food items in regards how fish feed on such baits and also their more natural weight, size and movement in water when combined with a correctly balanced hook rig. I find boilies in the 6 to 8 millimetre size excellent for bigger more wary fish even with huge mouths!

If you exploit the various filter feeding modes of fish using various grades of ingredients both soluble and insoluble in your ground baits you can certainly induce far more intense and suitable feeding for hooking wary big carp. You might recall the fact that fish are lateral lines are tuned to feel the movements of live foods like maggots and sound is important in ground bait effectiveness, but smaller hook baits are well recommended in conjunction with this. With carp one thing is for sure and that is when you leverage their mode of feeding or preferably specifically induce particular modes of intense feeding, you can vastly improve your catches all year round and all you need to know is a bit more about effective bait use and ingredients manipulation…

In these days of recession saving every penny helps and the great bonus with making your own fishing baits is they really can catch you as many if not more big carp ” for far less money spent. The vast majority of anglers really have no idea how their baits work in relation to the exploitation of vital carp senses and much of the discussion about baits in the past has often focussed on recipes and flavours, and more recently the first 3 limiting amino acids. But if you think you know it all; no-one does, so why not read on!

The growing numbers of anglers in the UK and all around the world reflect a movement towards the desire of anglers to take back control over every aspect of their fishing and the desire to understand more complete details about bait and actually how it works in relation to carp diet and senses etc that in the past has been largely ignored by the majority who have been dependant upon readymade baits! When I began carp fishing in the nineteen-seventies everyone made their own baits out of necessity and it really was a challenge to find appropriate and accurate information about what exactly made carp feed and what fulfilled their essential nutritional requirements that you could actually get hold of and use in homemade baits, but all this experience and knowledge has meant our homemade baits can hold their own and even out-fish popular brand readymade boilies. Homemade baits have always if so desired been a tremendously effective economical and unique edge in carp fishing, (being different is vital to constant success of course,) it is very easy to forget that the relatively few truly knowledgeable bait designers with the big bait companies all started out at home in their own kitchens or garden sheds!

Having banked twenty forty pound carp from UK lakes I realise many things have changed about carp fishing in the past 40 years and especially the size of carp now available, but it is very obvious you need to fish the waters with fish of the size you wish to catch ” I know anglers who have very few twenties under their belts because of the limited lakes they fish within a particular region of the country. Your fishing goals are very personal and weight of fish is very irrelevant in many aspects; your personal success can be measured in many ways beyond fish weights and any sponsored angler can sit full-time on any water until they catch all the fish in the lake (i.e. big deal!) It is best to measure your success by setting your own goals and exactly how you aim to achieve them and fulfilling those goals than by comparing just how many thirties or whatever you have caught in a year and catching them on your own homemade unique baits makes all the difference to and gives a far deeper meaning to catch results in my opinion!

Most of us have to compete with bait and tackle-sponsored anglers and having the ability to either top their baits or make your own is a very potent edge in such circumstances! Also the willingness to constantly adapt your thinking and develop your personal fishing skills and take risks with your fishing styles and approaches provides endless competitive edges that stuck in a rut carp anglers who follow fashions and the crowd miss all the time. The obvious answer to how to beat the herd is to be the first to do something different in terms of baits and methods; in making your own baits and developing your own approaches you always improve your chances ” permanently and you will be a true thinking angler and a genuine sharper carper!

Many anglers are concerned about making their own baits with no reason whatsoever; over the years I have caught big fish on well over 90 percent of my own experimental homemade baits and even the mistake ones always turn out to be excellent solutions for different fishing situations and challenges and when fished against competing ready made baits too! Mistakes in bait making are simply where the bait or results did not turn out as expected but the nature of such baits and there impacts on fish are priceless feedback that lead directly and very fast straight to awesome homemade baits for many more fishing situations and solve many problems many readymades do not address at all and the cost homemade baits always means you can over-boost with natural carp feeding triggers – which is a gigantic edge (see my unique bait making and bait design books at Baitbigfish for details and much more!)

The average carp angler has been conditioned by appearances to associate carp baits with flavours; many are still on the basic level of asking other anglers what flavour they are using and this is a great shame as these anglers are missing out on tremendously better catches if they knew more! The real key to long-term success for average-skilled anglers is the use of nutritionally stimulating baits seriously packed with optimum levels of nutritional substances carp need in order to survive. Many versions of food style baits are being offered commercially by countless companies, but the large majority of these baits are in effect wasted by the fish due to being indigestible to varying degrees ” but make no mistake, they still catch carp on many carp waters.

Of course flavours are such a popular subject for carp anglers, but most realise that the majority of flavours are just average or worse while a relative few are very potent by comparison to others and really do work, if not directly in effecting feeding responses, then indirectly helping enhance and improve ionising effects of other bait substances such as betaine and amino acids and so on etc! Some very most effective flavours are the type that by methodically testing against standard baits you can overdose and top standard baits so they catch far more fish at almost any water you visit than the very same standard bait from the same bag but with no extra added flavour, but please be aware that anything has a flavours of some sort even plastic and rubber baits, and carp can detect some substances to a few parts in a billion (this is fact.) Although chilli extracts are very popular few anglers rally appreciate the many aspects of their impacts upon fish senses, digestion and metabolism, long range chemoreception and lateral line sensitivities and mode of feeding they can induce and so on; it may come as a big surprise that carp actually enjoy the pleasure from the pain response initiated by the hot peppers ” just as we enjoy hot curries and spicy foods for the same reason (see my flavours and feeding triggers ebooks for more!)

In my opinion the best starting point in making homemade baits, is to get to really become familiar with many of the natural feeding triggers carp are most sensitive to, from monophosphates, amino acids, (and other amines) similes and analogues of natural substances etc; then seek out the very highest quality products available that contain these for bait use at a reasonable price. There are many hidden factors in sourcing ingredients, such as taste enhancers or squid extracts that have been cut with cheaper products and constant experimentation is the key to outstanding results; but this is the learning curve that literally everyone that makes new baits is on. It is very possible for the beginner to boost a simple homemade 50:50 soya and semolina boilie base mix by the addition of high levels of a additives or ingredients that will supply many potent feeding triggers; such as fermented shrimp powder, de-fatted green-lipped mussel extract, enzyme-treated liver powder, abalone powder, Ccmoore Feedstim XP powder etc; these will make all the difference, so do yourself a big favour and find out more ” and my unique bait secrets ebooks (at Baitbigfish) make very stimulating reading!

If you want an interesting hobby, it might be time for you to take a look at radio controlled boats. What kind of boat do you want, and how much cash can you invest in them? What kind of boat are you interested in, and do you want to put the boat together yourself or do you want to purchase one ready to run?

Let’s start by seeing what kind of space you have available. Do you have a large body of water near you that is weed free and calm? When you have located a good place to run your boats, this is a sign that it is definitely time to get started.

Consider the three kinds of radio controlled boats that are available to you. They are differentiated by what kind of fuel they use, and the most popular and easy to find will run on electricity. With an electric radio controlled boat, you are just going to charge the batteries in a wall outlet for a few hours. They are not as powerful as other options, and the batteries do need to be replaced on a regular basis. You can recharge the batteries however, and switch them out as it becomes necessary.

The second type, which is often popular with intermediate rc boat hobbyists is the nitro-powered rc boat. These boats are fueled with a nitro-methane mix and provide the boat with a lot of power. However, this type of fuel is also the most expensive. Unlike electric-powered rc boats, you can quickly and easily refuel and be back in the race again.

Finally, we have the gasoline powered boats, which are the most powerful RC boats on the market as well as being the fastest. They run off of a mixture of oil and gasoline and these boats are considered the top of the line. It is important to remember, however, that they are also the most expensive and the loudest. Finding a place where you can use them can be difficult, but you’ll find that the high initial investment is worth it because it has lower refueling costs than the nitro-methane powered boats. What boats are you interested in picking up?

Whether you choose a high end gasoline RC boat, a nitro RC boat or an electric RC boat, make sure that you take some time to see how the boat handles. A single hull that has a deep V shape will give you the best handling without impacting your speed.

If you are limited by your budget or the size of the water available to run your boat, you might be best off to start out with an electric rc boat. While not as powerful as gasoline and nitro rc boats, there are some upscale electric rc boats on the market today that can reach speeds as high as 40mph.

An electric rc boat might also be the best solution if you have to run your boat in or near a residential neighborhood where nitro and gasoline rc boats would be way too loud and might even get you banned. Electric rc boats are very quiet and will not disturb the peace.

Radio controlled boating is a great hobby to get into and is rather easy to enter. With so many choices it offers something for every person. You can enjoy building the boats, running them, or, if you really want to challenge yourself and experience it as a team sport, racing them.

In conclusion I recommend that you purchase a radio controlled boat that is suitable for your environment, your desires, and your budget.

These days looking for cheap but well proven alternative big fish protein baits is very important and homemade sausage meat baits and ground baits are brilliant baits for so many reasons. Luncheon meats and Pepperoni are popular and effective but extremely expensive as fishing baits. So let’s now see how to make your own big fish sausage meat baits and save yourself a fortune!

The first ideal part about sausage meat is how cheap and easily available it is. It comes in various forms and grades and as usual it is best to get the freshest product possible. This kind of meat is just not fashionable today which means right now is a perfect time to be exploiting it!

You can use the minced products or use a mincer to make a sticky pliable material to use to base you bait on. Pork meat is very nutritionally stimulating to big catfish and carp, supplying many essential nutritional needs including many amino acids and energy packed oils. Sausage meat may be made from pork alone or with other materials, but even adding very cheap wheat flour, or with a few eggs to meat with sausage rusk will bind bait to make practical bait dough for paste or boilies.

To make these economical protein based baits is fast and very easy!

For instance, start off with a small amount of meat to practice with like just half a pound of minced meat mixed with around 3 hens eggs in a bowl and with enough wheat flour added to mould into a pliable bait dough. You can use this as bait or put into sealed plastic freezer bags to store in the fridge or freezer for later use. Such bait is usually very instant on most carp and catfish waters, although different grades and brands of sausage meat will vary in success rates so do experiment!

Like the majority of carp and catfish baits, the best way to start fishing with it is to feed perhaps 2 to 6 pounds or more of it into your swim, in advance. (This is certainly not absolutely necessary however!) You might for instance, over a period of 3 days prior to fishing, start introducing paste pieces about an inch in diameter just by pulling them off your balls of dough you have made.

When you pre-bait fish will obviously get a smell and taste of it without getting hooked so be more confident when you do try it on the hook, so do it! You can use sausage meat baits as part of your ground baiting or with other meat baits like chopped spam, meatballs, luncheon meats if you want the extra expense; sausage meat and cheap rolled oats is fine! Scald or boil or steam your baits if needed where smaller fish prove a bother, but add some paste to your bait on your rig or on the hook to boost more soluble attraction…

As most commercial rolled baits have uniform shapes, your homemade baits in odd shapes have the advantage over more wary fish by disrupting their reference points! Boilies are just made by placing your dough baits only a handful at a time in half a pan of boiling water in a pan for a couple of minutes; this makes a resilient skin when they dry-off on conveniently placed absorbent towels or trays etc. keep your water boiling at all times by not adding too many baits at once and keep taking baits out after around 2 minutes or so.

Boiling baits for longer makes them harder as the eggs proteins coagulate more making your baits more resilient, but less attractive nutritionally. To make your baits more attractive the choices are many to improve results. Even adding garlic or sea salt or curry powders even at a teaspoon per egg will make a difference to performance.

You might just add a teaspoon of black pepper powder per egg used. Other examples of well proven kitchen favourites are yeast extract products like Marmite or Vegemite; add at a heaped tablespoon per egg, or even Parmesan or blue cheese powder which is ideal in sausage meat baits. You can simply add some Minamino or proprietary fishing liquid amino acids supplement like Nutramino to boost feeding stimulation and nutritional profile of your bait; or add fish meal, keratin, or poultry meal, or ground bird foods and lecithins for more digestible baits in winter, for example…

You can add almost anything to enhance the stimulatory effects of your sausage baits but it helps if you really know what your ingredients do inside your fish and how they work together in baits to contribute the overall effects and improve catch results, and this knowledge really does save you a fortune and boost your confidence hugely! There are many ingredients etc you might add to stimulate fish which may be very expensive over a season, but going to the supermarket, health food shop, Asian store etc can provide really potent gems for a fraction of the cost when you know what to look for in terms of bioactive substances especially… Even adding liquidised liver with a few drops of spice or herb oleoresins and liquid lecithins can make drastic differences to results for relatively little cost and your baits will always be unique of course which a big edge anyway!

The options are limited only by your imagination; but using proven fish feeding triggering substances and metabolically stimulating substances are among the best proven substances when you look at bait components… Homemade sausage meat baits (and ground baits) for big carp and catfish are well proven against any popular modern baits (even enzyme-active ones,) and I’ve proven this myself (although my baits are sometimes rather more complex than here.) So give them a try and you might decide to get much deeper into making your own homemade baits; but beware – they can become addictive!

by Tim Richardson

A thought-provoking piece about carp baits, nutritional stimulation, improving fish weights, and much improved catch results!

The scientific information available on essential dietary needs of carp most often does not take into account the presence of natural food in the presence of a test food item such as that of milk casein and gelatine. In fact it really makes a big difference when you consider that a carp is fully designed to fully digest and utilise its natural food items as opposed to an artificial food item composed of many foods such as in a boilie bait or pellet designed for salmon, trout or even specifically designed for carp! The actual energy and nutrient requirements compared to the actual biological conversion and energy supplied may well not be as great nor as efficient as thought by anglers.

Many anglers think about their baits in terms of nutrition but really miss the other points about actual feeding stimulation processes and mechanisms. In the real world, what if you have raised the level of natural food organisms available because of the abundance of fishing baits fed into a lake? What if the fish can pick and choose whether they actually need fishing baits to supply any needs at all at any particular point in the year?

When I began carp fishing in the 1970s a couple of cans of luncheon meat or sweetcorn, or a pound of homemade boilies, ground bait, paste bait or a pint of maggots or a loaf of bread would have been easily enough bait for a successful 12 hour trip. Now it is easily possible to introduce 1000 boilies upon arrival and get a fish hooked within 10 minutes on some waters. It seems very obvious that the use of more bait (despite far higher stocking levels,) has affected feeding behaviours at certain times of the year especially during the colder months.

It is true that the majority of the fish you could fish available to you prior to the boom in carp fishing in the UK were of double and single figures and it has been said that at that time there were as many twenty pound fish in Kent waters as the rest of the waters in the UK put together. New carp anglers in the UK today could never fully appreciate just what an achievement catching a twenty pound carp meant back in the 1970′s and early 1980′s; and the opportunity to actually fish a water that held a thirty pound fish was incredibly exciting experience! To many carp anglers fishing just a couple of decades ago, the first challenge was actually to locate a water containing any big carp over twenty or thirty pounds at all, and it might seem crazy to consider that to me it was once an exhilarating thrill to fish a water containing fish over twenty pounds, now having hooked a carp over eighty pounds a couple of years ago.

Not so long ago the capture of twenty carp of over twenty pounds in a season was a milestone few of even the top anglers had achieved. It is astounding to me today looking back, that you can catch twenty carp of around twenty pounds or over on certain UK waters in just a week or less; and this is very much due to the impact of the highly nutritional free baits applied by carp anglers over recent decades. Correct bait application is a massive edge which simply cannot be underestimated but is often extremely under-rated!

One 1991 milestone catch for me was of 23 carp caught over 5 days from an Essex reservoir, topped by the biggest in the lake (a mid-thirty,) and these fish averaged just under twenty pounds each; this provoked much jealousy from other members at the time, yet today such catches are pretty commonplace. Unique homemade bait design and regular effective bait application was the secret to my milestone catch back then and probably applies even more so today! Bait is often the last consideration today in the age of the instant carp angler who can buy everything except experience, but getting educated on the secrets of bait and how to exploit its power is a very big edge that can make your catches far better than ordinary, (even if you are a carp angler of average talent or experience!)

Bait design is very important and the nature of the free baits you use in order to get fish into an excited feeding state and drawn into your swim, hopefully to make a mistake with your hook bait is crucial; even in exceptionally prolific French and Spanish waters where 60 fish of over twenty pounds has been achieved by my friends in just 3 days. In the UK high-profile anglers are very much promoters of innovative baits and applications and the leverage of various bait substances and forms of recipes is a very big part of their ongoing success. Bait is important not merely as an edge in itself but as the whole basis of your ongoing success and so belittling the subject is rather missing the point that carp senses can be manipulated in our favour over and over again big-time…

You can make carp baits as easy and simple or as complex as you want but one thing is certain and that is, for best results you need to make sure your baits are as unlikely to arouse as little suspicion in fish as possible. To do this you need to leverage the top rule with fishing bait; that of making your bait unique and different! A new different bait has the best potential to tempt big wary carp because even where a so-called food bait or nutritional biological value bait is established, once fish get hooked on it, then fish feeding behaviour on it can alter dramatically!

The purpose of a fishing bait is not to smell like a banana, nor be an eye-catching colour, nor shine in the dark like a beacon, or taste like a banquet. It is merely to get your hook in the fishs mouths for the split second it tasks to have the slightest chance of hooking a fish. Everything else is secondary. But many fishermen seriously cut their chances by using baits many others have caught fish on before, not realising how much harder fish on such baits unfortunately can be to catch; having been hooked on them previously! (So many overlook this top priority warning!) It should therefore make absolute sense that making your bait different to previously successful baits is a big key to consistent big fish success.

Many baits simply tantalise the fish and evoke a curiosity response rather than provide anything nutritional and many angler get confused thinking that baits absolutely must be an perfect square meal to get takes, but this is completely untrue. Any change you make to a bait can induce a curiosity response from a fish regardless of any other olfaction or other chemoreception stimulation which might be present in the bait. Carp feed using far more senses than merely taste and smell and all can be exploited for improved and prolonged more consistent results!

There is much said about flavors. This probably because they have such vivid impacts upon our senses as most are mainly based upon strongly volatile solvent substances and many taste and smell like foods we recognise; like pineapple, cranberry, banana and strawberry. Changing flavors can easily produce a new bait and renewed results, but synthetic and solvent based flavors are merely a tiny tip of the real flavors iceberg available to us to exploit. Flavor components can do very various things to fish and the water surrounding our baits to induce bites.

We can associate flavors with fruits and sugars of many kinds from oranges and pineapples to apples, pears, butter and cream, spices and herbs, molluscs and crustaceans, fish and everything in between and those besides. But many flavors are beyond what most anglers would even term flavors and have bitter, sour, salty, sickly, acidic, highly pungent even repulsive effects on us humans, but carp absolutely love them. It is an interesting fact that complete digestion of many substances occurs as a direct result of bacterial action to help break down food in the gut which enzymes alone cannot digest. In this example, this means that flavors and ingredients that are partially digested or even represent or mimic these can be super attractive to fish

In the case of big carp, they can be caught on baits containing strong powerful flavors or minimal amounts or none at all. The angling fishing pressure they receive 24 hours a day will often influence which approaches and which forms of flavor are more stimulatory or more repellant! But even using rubber and plastic baits will eventually be associated with previous captures and be less effective for this reason.

It is obvious that nearly any bait will catch a carp once. Much of the reason fake plastic and rubber baits catch carp is the lack of suspicion aroused by them, compared to conventional round boilies for example. This often because they do not contain the concentrated substances carp can recognise and relate to previous experiences of getting caught, but even these baits are far from sterile, having natural and human hand added attraction too like butyric acid.

So what is the translation of making a bait different in order to achieve perpetual edges over your fish especially in regards to bigger fish? The fact is there are thousands of substances to exploit and just one can make all the difference and transform your results. Put as simply as possible, fish and humans share numerous very vital processes which all relate to energy and its efficient use.

A great additive for big fish baits is betaine. This is a familiar substance for many carp anglers. But why is it special? So many substances trigger feeding or at least induce exploratory feeding behaviours. Well betaine occurs naturally in human diet and fish diet in natural foods. So it is no surprise that it is used for many vital functions roles and processes in our bodies and though not an a carp essential amino acid it is very important and vital to fish. In fact, so vital that its feeding triggering effects top that of the amino acid alanine which is a known feeding stimulant for very many fish species. The fish olfactory bulb receptor cells are especially stimulated by betaine. It was originally named betaine because it was first identified in the root crops beta vulgaris or beetroot, from which the very first sugar beets were derived from. (Sugars and sweeteners are potent carp feeding triggers.)

Betaine even rivals many essential amino acids carp require in their natural diet and its effects upon food palatability and synergistic interactions with amino acids in baits and in the carp body demonstrate how important this substance is in carp baits! Betaine is a bit like sugar and salt and even flavor components like malic acid which really intensify the effects and profiles of other substance like amino acids and other flavors etc at carp receptor sites all over its body from lips, face, fins, flanks, in the throat and gill areas and even in the gut itself. Yes betaine is a big fish substance for sure!

You can help your bait enhancing and bait making efforts enormously by looking at how the food we eat is formulated. The food industry go to great lengths to get substances in our food which make you eat more of it, even to the extent of training our taste buds with all that sugar, salt, yeast extract, and the vast number of other healthy and unhealthy additives hidden away in long ingredients lists. When I began writing books and articles many scoffed (please excuse the pun,) at my claims that there are many addictive substances to exploit for use in baits for big fish; just 2 clues are the capsaicin receptors found in carp, and the addictive effects of certain cereal gluten substances which release feel-good but addiction forming endorphins in carp brains! Fishing blends well with other outdoors recreation and sport activities like hunting, camping, boating and other such hobbies and but so knowing as much as possible about your improving your fishing baits will ensure you always have better results; guaranteed!

If you are considering finding a pontoon boat for sale there are a few things to look at before you buy. Getting a pontoon boat can be a great investment and can make your time on the waters a lot more enjoyable than ever before.

What kind of pontoon boat youre getting depends on what you are planning to use it for. There are a lot of different types of pontoon boats for sale, in different materials, sizes and price classes. Its a good idea to think through a few times what kind of waters youre mainly going to use it in and also how many people there are going to be in the boat.

If youre a sport fishermen and only looking for a small boat that can be brought easily to different waters you might prefer to get an inflatable pontoon boat. These boats are usually some of the cheaper boats and can be a one man boat. It is quite popular among fly-fishermen.

For fishermen, pontoon boats are one of the best options for boats. Because of their special construction, with a flat bottom and pontoons on the sides they are stable so that you easily can move around in the boat with less risk of falling over. This also means that they easily can reach shallow waters, which is a great advantage for fishermen.

A pontoon boat can also be used as a family boat, to go on day trips with. There are many larger pontoon boats for sale that have room for all family members and extra package too. There is often a space that is suitable as a place to go swimming from.

Pontoon boats are often made out of aluminum which makes them light and strong and capable of rougher beats from rocks in lakes and rivers.

For salty waters, however, its a better idea to have a pontoon boat that is made out of fiberglass or polyethylene. Aluminum is more sensitive to corrosion from salty water whereas the other materials withstand it easily. You can find plenty pontoon boats for sale also in those materials so you can be sure that there is a boat for you wherever youre planning to use it.

Always ask for professional help and guidance when youre buying your boat and you can be sure that youre getting the right kind.

Few carp anglers have never heard of the world famous carp bait additive called Robin Red which has been an enormously important bait ingredients for both homemade and readymade baits for decades. Find out more about how to exploit this wonder bait here…

Robin Red is an original formula from Haiths based in Cleethorpes UK. Included in their best-selling items are these well-known bait ingredients: Hempseed, Carpticle Mix, Multi Mix, Super Red, Prosecto Insectivorous, Robin Red, Red Factor, Nectarblend, soft Bill and Red Band. Having many years in producing leading specialist bird foods, this experience and such products and many others have been extremely productively applied to catching carp!

Among such bird food products Robin Red is the best known and is literally a legend when it comes to carp bait ingredients and additives etc today. Hinders offer other bird foods which have also been integral in the success and universal use of bird food based carp baits throughout the world today. Countless modern carp bait companies have taken hinders and Rod Hutchinsons leads for example and formulated their own commercial bird food based baits ranges and now additives and liquids etc based around robin red and chilli for instance are extremely fashionable and successfully proven; such as the Ccmoore Red Venom additive.

The popularity of Robin Red is so great that Im sure that at times in the case of making your own homemade boilies, that if you do not use Robin Red in your bait, it will likely as not be the only carp bait in the water that does not include it! Not using Robin Red can actually be a good thing as carp are so familiar with it on busy very hard-fished carp waters that it could well act as an indicator of potential danger! You might find out a bit more about it and choose to use a component of it instead, or use it in very low levels, this works well winter summer or fall…

Ways to incorporate Robin Red and apply it in homemade baits, spod, method, particles, pellets and boilies mixes are legion. Just dampen your boilies using a mixture of liquid foods and Robin Red… Or try pre-soaking your pellets in any liquids you like and add Robin Red to produce super ground baits, method mixes or spod mixes for example for both winter and summer use.

The ingredients and components in robin Red have been speculated on for decades and a few of these have been identified but apparently no-one has actually copied the original accurately, although most copies will still stain your hands red and turn fish red too! One fact about Robin Red which has been confirmed is that it does not contain the antioxidant pigment Carophyll Red, but what about cantaxanthin perhaps? Whatever Robin Red contains, it sure works!

Why not save yourself a fortune in bait costs and try making your own homemade baits for the first time using a mix of semolina, soya flour with added robin red? Try boosting your pellets by just adding water and adding neat robin red and mixing thoroughly; this will cloud the water very red too, (wash your red hands after use!) One easy to use product incorporating Robin Red is Haiths super Red which can be used neat in PVA products and contains the following:

Super Red has aniseed oil, teasel seeds, crushed Carpticle mix, crushed hempseed, Red Factor, robin Red, peanut granules and crushed tiger nuts. This combination is only one of countless others you could try in making your own boilies, pellets and ground baits and to maximise this and more and to save yourself an fortune in bait costs why not now read on…

Want to discover the beauty of exotic island locations such as Hawaii, the Caribbean Islands, Florida, Bahamas, and Greece Sailing is a great way to discover the beauties of several locations such as the Caribbean, Hawaii, Bahamas, and many other archipelagos? There are a few ways you can sail away. You can hire a boat with no captain, crew, or cook. This is called a bareboat. On a bareboat the vacationers do all the cooking, rowing, and navigation. A better option is to hire a captain if you want to sail on a bareboat. That way you have good navigation and someone to provide you with local legend and lore.

There are many companies which provide sailing vacation packages. The most important component of a sailing vacation package is the boat, also known as the transport vehicle. The transport vehicle can be anything from a bareboat with a skipper, to a schooner, or yacht. A lot of it depends on the number of people sailing.

When a big group of people are going, it is a good idea to hire a catamaran. Catamarans have a motorized launch and can accommodate a large number of people. Other modes of transportation include trimarans, which is a more spacious and advanced version of a catamaran. Most ports also offer local transport like schooner, gullets, or caiquies. It all depends on where you go.

Sailing vacation packages come with a variety of amenities. Most packages offer food and drink at a minimum. Large catamarans may have a kitchen on board. Accessories for use during your sailing adventure may also be provided, such as binoculars, scuba and snorkeling equipment, live music, and even photography. Sailing adventures open to children often provide the kids with water toys.

Sailing vacation packages that include tie-ups with resorts are known as stay-sail vacations. Nighttime is spent in hotels, while sailing goes on during the day. Resort or hotels of a stay and stay vacation depend on the budget.

The number of days sailing, onboard amenities, and hotel accommodations are all factors in the price of sailing vacation packages. As always, quality and service affect price. Destination also plays a role in the price of any sailing vacation package.

Purchasing a honeymoon vacation package will make your honeymoon planning process much easier. When selecting a honeymoon vacation package from the internet consider yourself forewarned. Selecting the very first honeymoon vacation package you find on the web is not a 100% guarantee that you will enjoy the vacation. Learn how to select the best honeymoon vacation package for your money.

Get together and list honeymoon vacation destinations you will both enjoy. There are so many destinations from which to choose it may be difficult to choose. You may end up with a list of several destinations and a conflict when it comes to making a final decision. Avoid this by listing things you both expect on your honeymoon vacation. Find the location that best matches both your lists.

Once you identify what you would both enjoy you may find that you agree on the same things. That makes it easier for you to select a honeymoon vacation package that’s best for you. If that doesn’t work, go back to the drawing board to list things you both want and don’t want on your honeymoon vacation. Select a package best fits both your needs.

Don’t get carried away. Select a honeymoon vacation package that works for your budget. If price matters, then browse several honeymoon vacation packages. Choose the one that offers the most amenities for the least amount of money. Don’t sacrifice the things that will make your honeymoon most enjoyable just to trim the budget, but at the same time, be careful not to overspend. That will only make you miserable in the long run.

The earlier you begin your search, the better chances of finding a honeymoon destination you will both enjoy. It also gives you more time to work out the details of the decision and include the honeymoon vacation package in the cost of the wedding.

The most important thing is to choose a honeymoon vacation package from which you will get your money’s worth. Expensive packages often offer fancier accommodations and luxurious experiences, but that doesn’t mean that you cannot find the same accommodations and luxuries in a cheaper honeymoon vacation package. Search the web to find a great deal on a honeymoon vacation package you will both love.

Sailing, what a great way to enjoy the beauty of the Caribbean Islands, Hawaiian Islands, Bahamas, Florida, Greece, and a variety of other exotic and beautiful locations. You can enjoy sailing individually, by hiring your own bareboat, which is a boat with no crew or cook. Sometimes a skipper is hired to help navigate and provide information about destinations. Otherwise, people on the bareboat do the cooking, navigating, and rowing. It’s a little bit of work!

On the other hand, there are plenty of companies that provide vacation packages for those who want to go sailing. The most important thing to consider on a sailing vacation package is the boat. You may end up on a bareboat with a skipper, or a huge yacht with other sailing vacationers.

Price of sailing vacations vary depending on the number of days at sea, what type of transport will be taken, and the quality of the hotel or resort in which you will be staying on a stay-sail vacation package. All packages depend on the number of days of the sailing and the facilities that will be taken. It also depends on the kind of hotel and its service in a stay-sail vacation package. Remember, your choice of destination play a huge role in determining the final price of your sailing vacation package.

Getting married? When it comes to planning the honeymoon consider a honeymoon vacation package. It will spare you the trouble of planning the details of your honeymoon vacation. Be careful not to fall for the first vacation package you find on the internet. Follow some basic guidelines to pick a honeymoon vacation package you will enjoy.

If you both enjoy the same types of things and locations it will be easier to select the type of honeymoon vacation package you need. If not, use your lists to create an ideal honeymoon that meets both of your criteria. Plan your honeymoon vacation package together.

Another consideration is to choose a honeymoon vacation package that fits your budget. Search the web for discount packages or special rates on honeymoon packages. Again, you will find many locations that fit your expectations and budget. Choose the one that offers the best price without sacrificing the benefits.

The earlier you begin your search the better chances of finding the honeymoon vacation to meet your desires and your budget. You will also have more time to decide where to go and what amenities you want. Planning your honeymoon vacation in conjunction with your wedding, will allow you to budget for both. Neither should be sacrificed at the expense of the other.

Search the web thoroughly to find a honeymoon vacation package that is worth your time and money. Less expensive honeymoon vacation packages can be found that offer the same lavish accommodations as more expensive packages.
